VEISHEA week brings thousands of visitors to Ames. Although many people are here for campus events, there are also people who will be in the neighborhoods looking for parties. If you are planning any kind of social gathering over the weekend, it is very important that you plan ahead to protect your property.
· Lock the doors of your home and vehicle.
· If you have a gathering, keep it small and limit it to people you know.
· If you live in areas with high pedestrian traffic, keep your gathering indoors.
· Call the Police Department to assist you if you find people you didn’t invite.
· Please—plan ahead for a designated driver.
· Don’t let intoxicated persons leave alone.

What is Veishea?
VEISHEA is an annual celebration held at Iowa State University each spring and is one of its oldest traditions. VEISHEA stands for the five colleges at the University when VEISHEA started in 1922, Veterinary Medicine, Engineering, Industrial Science, Home Economics, and Agriculture. VEISHEA has a long history of successful events and is one of the largest student planned events in the United States.
